Have you ever wondered?

When I was just a girl...
All I wanted to know was how people think.
I used to imagine climbing into people's brains and just finding a little nook; a corner just to hide in and stay for a while.
I just wanted to listen.
Oh, the treasures that lie in every single mind.
What made you brush your teeth right before you ate that chocolate cake?
Why things that could make me cry, some people find joy in.
Why do you lie?
Why do you compromise?
Why are you sad?
Why are you laughing?
The many whys that have plagued my mind.
And then, one day, I found a camera.
Cameras are such rad little things.
You set the frame, push a little button, It clicks..
And like magic you are frozen.Forever. Frozen.
But what I didn't even realize the first time I made that little button click. You are not only freezing time, but the person, the mind, the memory, the personality.
One day as I was developing one of my many rolls of film, I was thrown for a loop.
Standing in the middle of the photo center at the local convenient store, it all made sense.
Looking into my sister's eyes in that moment I saw every thought she had, every bit of her soul laid bare on this little piece of paper.
All of my questions, This internal battle of my being.
I had the answer the entire time.
That was 20 years ago.
I was just a girl.
I grew, I matured (a little bit), I painted, I danced, I wrote (I write).
All of my artistic vice's brought me back once agian to a camera and a little studio in Dayton, Ohio. My first real job was there. That place was my second home for several years.
My highschool sweetheart and father to my children joined the army.
I followed.
I have lived all over the country.
My home is where I lay my head down at night, where I kiss my babies and say my prayers.
My constant is my camera.
Knowing the answer to heal, to learn, to grow, to change.
Just a little box...and a click....

"Life is like photography, we develop from the negatives"

That quote is so true, and I believe one of the main reason's I love it so much. It is a journey, as life is. Always learning, evolving, changing. Isn't it great! Well the past few weeks. I've been pretty busy with the cutest kid contest going on facebook and a beautiful engagement session at Savannah rapids. Planning for an upcoming wedding, advertising, and trying to still keep normal life going. What a rush.. I don't think I ever get a break. Right now, it's 4 in the morning and here I am blogging on what's going on in the Photography world because I haven't had a chance any  other time :) Regardless, I love it and wouldn't have it any other way. Here are a couple images from my engagement session. We had great light and the love and excitement of their upcoming nuptials definitely came through! How amazing is love??

2 year olds and sand in our toes amounts to a great weekend!!!

Monday already?  I've had so much fun this weekend. I cant wait to start editing so I can put a few photo's up here for you to see! Saturday I had a good friend's daughter's 2nd birthday party. How fun was that! Hot dogs and cake and lots of smiles! It really was great! It was also very hot! So Sunday I took my clan to the lake for some swimmin' and Sunday relaxin'. We had a blast and of course I got some pretty cool pictures as well. I really have decided that I am falling in love with Georgia... Maybe I was a southern girl all along :)  I guess only time will tell.... until next time!

Memorable Moments

I don't think I will ever tire of meeting new people and getting to share such a special moment in each of their lives. A moment guaranteed to be remembered forever... and it will forever be showcased on their walls. I guess every profession in the world holds something worth remembering, but for me, being able to give families precious memories is the best in the world. It's one I hope to be doing forever. This weekend I was able to meet baby Daniel. How precious was he!!! All smiles! And on top of it all his mommy was able to see him roll over for the very first time!!! Moments like that are made to be captured! Meet baby Danny :)
